Merry Mantras for a Happy + Healthy Holiday

  • Never go to a holiday party hungry - Fuel up with good, nutritious food before you leave so you can focus more on the people rather than the cookies.
  • Something is better than nothing for your stocking and in workouts, in both duration and intensity
  • Run, Run, Rudolf - ask yourself "could I go run/brisk walk after I eat or drink this?"
  • Plan your splurges so you don't end up with a bowl full of jelly like Santa. It's okay to plan splurges every now and then if you keep up with the 12 rules of fitness so that you can maintain all your health and fitness efforts from throughout the year. 
  • Don't be a Scrooge - when Mama's not happy, nobody is happy. Self-care people! If you're not taking care of yourself you will not be fun to be around
  • An hour a day (of activity) keeps the Grinch away - active traditions are a great way to spend quality time with family and friends! 
  • Believe in the magic - kids laugh more, move more, and believe more. Embrace the childlike wonder of the holidays and appreciate the moments, create beautiful experiences this holiday season rather than stressing about "adult stuff." Be flexible, do what's most important to you and let others handle the rest.
